A Columbia City woman has been arrested and accused of stealing from her employer, Parkview Whitley Hospital. Indiana State Police arrested 40-year-old Britte (brit) E. Smith, a nurse, Thursday, after a two-month long investigation prompted by allegations of misconduct and theft by Parkview. Police say an investigation revealed that numerous times between November 2013 and March 2014, Smith allegedly accessed the hospital's machine, used to dispense or deliver drugs or controlled substances. Police say it's alleged that she accessed the machine for Hydromorphone for purposes other than patient care. She faces the following charges: Interference with Medical Services, a Class C Felony; Theft, a Class D Felony; and Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Class D Felony.
