MICHIGAN CITY (Network Indiana) — A Portage man drowned in Lake Michigan after saving his girlfriend.
Investigators say 28-year-old Donald Turner was swimming with his girlfriend at Washington Beach Park in Michigan City on Sunday.
When his girlfriend began struggling in the water, Turner got her to safety before going under the water and not resurfacing.
Turner was pulled from the water by the Michigan City Fire Department but was pronounced dead at a hospital.
