One person had to be rescued after a home caught fire in Warsaw Monday night near downtown Warsaw.
A 911 call was received by central dispatch around 9:30 PM regarding a house fire at 321 West Fort Wayne Street, where the first arriving firefighters found heavy flames coming from the first story of the home and were told about possibly trapped people within the home.
After crews entered the home, they found one person, identified as Steven Mawer, on the second floor who had to be removed through a second story window and taken to the ground by ladder. Crews continued to search for additional people inside of the home, but it was later confirmed that no one else was inside of the home.
Mawer was flown to the burn center at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne and was last listed in stable condition.
Damage to the building was considered moderate with damage estimated at $125,100 with approximately $63,000 damage to contents inside. The incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal and the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory.
