Patricia Cook has been appointed to fill the vacancy for Etna Green’s clerk-treasurer.
Cook was one of two people to apply for the position after longtime Clerk-Treasurer Laura Baker resigned in November.
Cook’s selection was made by Kosciusko County Republican Chairman Mike Ragan at noon Friday at the county Justice Building in Warsaw.
Normally, precinct committee members within the jurisdiction vote in the caucus process to fill vacancies in positions held by the same party.
Ragan said he consulted with Steve Sechrist, the precinct’s only committeeman, before he made the selection.
“We congratulate Patricia Cook on this appointment and wish her well in her new position and are confident she will serve the citizens of Etna Green with courtesy and professionalism,” he said.
Cook has lived in Etna Green since the mid 1980s. She served briefly as deputy clerk for the town years ago. Her husband, Andy, is the wastewater and street superintendent.
Baker’s resignation is effective Dec. 31. Cook will begin work after the first of the year.
Cook said she’s excited about the new position.
Baker’s term concludes at the end of 2019 and Cook will have to decide if she wants to seek the post.
