The song Rocky Top is back on the playlist at Plymouth High School football games. The song, which was a tradition at the Rock Pile, was pulled when the Superintendent learned the lyrics reference moonshine. Students and parents protested. Many sang the song, acapella, at games anyway. Now, a compromise has been reached and an instrumental version of the song has been approved for use. In a letter by the Superintendent, he is careful to stress that the Rocky Top Tennessee song is NOT the high school fight song, but it has become part of the football program’s culture and getting rid of the song just didn't feel right.
