It turns out the shooting on Grape Road in Mishawaka that injured two people, including an innocent woman caught in the gunfire, was the result of a drug deal gone wrong.
The deal was going down in the Kmart parking lot on McKinley Road around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21.
That led to a vehicle chase, northbound on Grape Road.
The first shots were fired from the back vehicle in the area of Runaway Bay Apartments, according to the South Bend Tribune.
The woman who got caught in the gunfire pulled between the two vehicle at the wrong time, the South Bend Tribune reported.
The other person hit was a male in the vehicle that was being chased.
Both injuries were considered non-life-threatening, according to Mishawaka Police.
21-year-old Bryce Morgan Riley Dehner, 21, and 22 year-old Austyn Alexander Brooks, 22 both of Granger, were arrested on Thursday on preliminary multiple attempted murder, battery and criminal recklessness charges.
Austin Brooks is the son of former Notre Dame football star and All American running back Reggie Brooks.
