Police Make Meth Arrest After Arranging Purchase

With the help of a confidential informant, Warsaw Police Department arrested Kimberly Burwell for possessing and dealing meth early Thursday morning.
After arranging to purchase half an ounce of meth from Burwell, 32, South  Bend, the informant met with Warsaw police. According to the probable cause affidavit, provided by Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, the informant and Burwell communicated through text messages that they would meet in the parking lot of the Kosciusko Community Hospital emergency room. Police provided the informant with audio recording equipment and $1,100 to buy the meth.
The informant met with Burwell in the ER lobby. Police observed Burwell leave the ER after the informant gave her the money. Burwell told the informant that another subject would drop off the meth momentarily. After a short period of time, the informant called Burwell about why no one had brought the meth. Burwell advised no one would bring the meth as she knew a police officer was in the ER.
The informant and the officer then traveled to Burwell’s residence. Burwell admitted to police that she had taken the $1,100 in exchange for meth. She told police that she already spent $100 and the rest was in her vehicle. Police found 14.3 grams of meth in Burwell’s home.
Burwell was subsequently arrested and booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a $25,250 bond. According to the jail booking, Burwell is pregnant.
