The State Ethics Commission will consider a proposed settlement of charges against former State School Superintendent Tony Bennett. The proposed deal is on the agenda for today's scheduled meeting of the commission. Jason Barclay, the attorney representing Bennett, confirmed the settlement, but released no other details. Bennett was accused by the state‘s Inspector General, David Thomas, who opened the investigation after a series of reports accused Bennett of improperly using his state office for work on his unsuccessful re-election campaign in 2012.
