Officials with Purdue University Fort Wayne have unveiled a new athletics logo.
The process of changing logos and branding on campus has already begun, with the new logo being revealed at center court in the Gates Center. The Mastodons Athletics website has also been updated with the new logo and branding.
Monday afternoon at a news conference Kelley Hartley Hutton, Director of Athletics also announced that all of the NCAA sports teams will be known as Purdue Fort Wayne beginning July 1, 2018. This is in coordination with the university’s realignment and rebranding to Purdue University Fort Wayne.
“Our alumni, fans, student-athletes, coaches, and staff have been eagerly awaiting this moment,” says Kelley Hartley Hutton, Director of Athletics. “The new branding includes all that we had all hoped for—and so much more. We will all be so proud to see our student-athletes suited up in their new uniforms this fall.”
The Mastodon will continue as the mascot, and all men’s and women’s sports teams will now be referred to as the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons.
“This is an exciting day for our university, for our student-athletes, and for Mastodons around the world,” says Ronald L. Elsenbaumer, Chancellor of Purdue University Fort Wayne. “Incorporating the internationally known Purdue name prominently into our athletics branding will add prestige and recognition to an already stellar athletics program.”
