Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation issued a press release Wednesday explaining the decision to suspend head coach Stephen Moriarty. The school says during halftime of a football game Moriarty threw two water bottle crates in the locker room.
One of the crates ricocheted off the wall and hit a player. That player missed the rest of the game as a result but is expected to be back in action Friday.
The school’s board of trustees will discuss Moriarty’s case during an executive session Thursday night, which is not open to the public.
Assistant football coach Jeff Shriver has taken over the team until Moriarty’s fate is decided.
