One local resident spoke up toward the end of Tuesday’s Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting with claims that county officials are not performing their duties to the best of their ability.
The first person was Don Zolman, who says he is grabbing signatures to support what he is calling the “Taxpayers Bill of Rights.” Zolman says the bill is to encourage county officials to focus on county issues and that taxpayers “deserve county officials that know their boundaries.”
A second question came before the commissioner’s from Travis McConnell regarding Juneteenth being recognized as a holiday on the county’s approved 2022 holiday calendar, to which County Auditor Michelle Puckett said it was not. The county commissioners did not give any comments following either speaker.
Former Kosciusko County Democratic Chairman Brian Smith also questioned the commissioners about Thursday’s visit and town hall with Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita and if it is spending any county dollars. Commissioner Bob Conley says the event is being funded by the Attorney General’s office.
The next commissioner’s meeting is on Tuesday, July 20th.
