A Kewanna woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $23,500 from her employer. 51 year-old Michelle Rigney is a former office manager for Smith Farm Store in Rochester. She was arrested when officers from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department served her with a Fulton Circuit Court arrest warrant alleging a felony charge for theft. The investigation began when the area manager for Smith Farm Stores reported possible missing money and deposits. The area manger indicated it was Rigney’s responsibility, as the office manager, to count and deposit the store’s daily income at a local bank. The investigation revealed that Rigney purportedly misrepresented the dollar amount of deposits and took funds for personal use. She also wrote personal checks to Smith Farm Store for cash. She allegedly did not deposit the checks as required. The investigation revealed from May 2, 2014 until May 11, 2014, Rigney allegedly stole over $23,500. She was incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail.
