Authorities say a small plane crashed into a wooded area in southwestern Michigan and the pilot escaped serious injury. The Sturgis Journal and the Kalamazoo Gazette report the single-seat, ultralight-type plane went down Wednesday night in Three Rivers. Authorities say the pilot was trying to land nearby. He was on foot when rescuers arrived and was taken to a hospital as a precaution. The crash is under investigation.
