Sound the Alarm, and save a life.
That’s the annual campaign by the American Red Cross that aims to reduce the number of injuries and deaths from house fires.
Katherine MacAulay of the Northeast Indiana American Red Cross tells ABC 21 they’ll be canvassing to install smoke detectors – free of charge – and teach people about fire safety.
“This is the time that we’re able to really do a lot of sound-play and get the word out about installing smoke detectors and protecting families,” she explains. “Most people don’t realize they only have two minutes to get out of their homes.”
The campaign will run until May 13.
Contact your closest Red Cross office if you’d like a free smoke detector or fire safety information.
