Tired of answering scam phone calls? Indiana’s Attorney General has some suggestions. State A-G Greg Zoeller is warning people of increased phone scams, and has even released a list of Area Codes to be suspicious of when they show up on your phone. Zoeller says thousands of complaints have been logged about unwanted calls, and there are a number of things to keep in mind.
Ignore obvious fake Area Codes like 0-0-0 or 1-2-3. Unless you’re expecting a call from Washington DC, you can ignore 202 numbers as well. They will pretend to be from a government agency, and none of those agencies would call you out of the blue about your taxes. 876 numbers originate in Jamaica, and nearly 1500 fake sweepstakes complaints are about this area code.
