Indiana State Police have denied Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese’s request to conduct an investigation into the beating of an in-custody suspect by some Elkhart police officers.

A state police spokesman says there is no point to an investigation since criminal charges have already been filed.
The mayor called for the investigation, last week, after video of the January beating was released a couple of weeks ago.
