The unemployment rate in the state fell slightly.
New data from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows July unemployment fell to 3.4 percent, down just one-tenth of a point from June. That number also reflects a same drop from one year ago. Indiana’s unemployment rate remains lower than the national average of 3.7 percent and is lower than neighboring states.
The biggest gains were seen in the private educational and health services sector and the biggest losses were seen in leisure and hospitality. Local numbers will be released on Monday.
