Statewide COVID cases hit late winter numbers; Kosciusko County remains in yellow

The Indiana Department of Health is reporting nearly 1,800 new COVID cases Wednesday. That’s the highest one-day total since February 6.

The 7-day positivity rate for the state is now up to eight percent, also the highest since early February. Posey County is far southwestern Indiana is now in the red on the health department’s COVID map. It’s the first time in four months that a county is under the highest-rated risk for COVID spread. 29 more counties are back into the orange.

Locally, Kosciusko County remains in a yellow status as cases per 100,000 residents rose to 109, while the positivity rate rose to just under 7.4 percent, the highest since late January. The only area counties remaining in blue are Marshall and St. Joseph Counties.
