On Monday, officers were initially dispatched to the Kosciusko County Justice Building regarding a reported stabbing, according to a news release from the Warsaw Police Department. As officers were en route, it was determined that the stabbing actually occurred at McDonald’s, 315 N. Detroit St., Warsaw.
The victim had driven himself to the Justice Building to find help. Court security was able to assist from that aspect as officers began searching the area for the suspect. The victim was transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne and the extent of his injuries were unknown as of Monday afternoon.
As the investigation unfolded, it was determined that the victim, a 46-year-old male from Warsaw, knew the suspect, the release states. Surveillance video was used by investigators to see that an argument ensued on the west side of the restaurant between the victim and suspect, which turned physical. It was at that time that the victim was stabbed on the left side of his body with an unknown sharp object, presumed to be a knife. The suspect began to flee on a bicycle, but dropped it and left McDonald’s on foot.
Based on continued investigation, officers are searching for John Edward Robinson, who is the suspect in this investigation.
Robinson is a white male, 48 years of age, 5 foot, 11 inches and weighing 169 pounds. Robinson is reportedly homeless. He is believed to be armed.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Central Dispatch at 574-372-9511. An exhaustive search was conducted in the area, but the suspect was not located as of Monday afternoon.
