Syracuse Man Charged For Assaulting Roommate With Knife

Nearly six months after allegedly assaulting his roommate with a knife, Syracuse resident Justin Anderson has been arrested for the incident.
Anderson, 33, of 118 N. Lake St., Syracuse, was arrested Wednesday morning for battery by means of a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause provided by Kosciusko County officials, the incident occurred March 1. At approximately 6:57 p.m., Anderson attacked his roommate with a knife, and the roommate was then taken to Goshen Hospital.
Syracuse Police spoke with the victim on March 2. She told police that she was listening to music while cutting food in the kitchen when Anderson entered and requested she turn the volume of the music down.
Anderson became agitated while talking to his roommate and grabbed her by the shoulder and hair and threw her to the floor. He then took the knife she was using and squeezed it into her left hand, cutting her. The victim complained of head pain after being hit by Anderson. She was treated at Goshen Hospital and now has permanent loss of movement to her left index finger, the affidavit states.
Syracuse Police interviewed Anderson on March 4. Anderson told police that when he asked his roommate to turn down the volume for the third time, she came at him with the knife. At this time he put her on the floor, held her down and took the knife from her. Anderson stated that her hand was cut when she tried to take the knife back from him.
Anderson has been booked at Kosciusko County Jail with a $20,000 bond.
