Syracuse Man Charged With Break-In, Battery

On Aug. 21, police say Philip Tinkey allegedly broke into a woman’s home and hit her in the face multiple times.
Tinkey, 27, of 8884 E. Circle Drive, Syracuse, was arrested Friday night for burglary and battery causing serious bodily injury.
According to the probable cause affidavit provided by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, officers responded to the woman’s home. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officer Neil Likens observed the victim’s black, bloody eye. She told police that Tinkey broke into the house while she was sleeping, placed his hand over her mouth and punched her four times in the face.
Tinkey then allegedly fled the house on a blue mo-ped after another resident in the house told Tinkey he was calling the police. The other resident told police that he was woken up by the victim’s crying.
On Aug. 24, KCSD located Tinkey. He told police that he was angry that he observed the victim holding hands with another man in public. The victim was treated for a fractured left eye socket. Tinkey was booked into Kosciusko County Jail with a $15,850 bond.
