A 19-year-old Warsaw man was arrested after sending a girl under 14 inappropriate text messages and a photo. Damen Lowery was arrested Tuesday for allegedly soliciting a child under the age of 14 years of age to engage in sexual intercourse or sexual contact and inappropriate communications with a child.
On May 31, a woman reported Lowery sent inappropriate text messages to her daughter’s cellular phone. The woman told police she had set up her daughter’s cell phone to monitor all incoming messages and while reviewing the juvenile’s messages when she located a photograph of Lowery’s genitalia. After the photo was sent, the text conversation turned to a sexual nature. The woman explained her daughter had met Lowery at a gathering May 29 and only knew the adult male by his first name, Damen. A Kosciusko County Sherriff’s Department Detective Shane Bucher met with Lowery who admitted it was his cell number texting the juvenile and told police he did not know the real age of the juvenile, but that she told him she was junior in high school.
Bucher obtained text messages from the juvenile’s cell phone and found inappropriate messages from Lowery’s phone number. The messages also indicated the juvenile advised Lowery of the age difference and Lowery was alright with it.
