Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer addressed the number of rising COVID-19 cases in the area at Monday night’s city council meeting.
Thallemer said he is in talks with the county has been in touch with him about the new numbers and what steps they are taking, which include public awareness through the use of informational door hangers. He also said they are working to “develop” a free COVID-19 test in the county.
Thallemer mentioned the use of CARES money that the city and county have been allocated for such a purpose, and he also was in touch with the Governor’s office about getting an Optum testing site, which the state has been implementing in areas where COVID numbers have been high.
More information about the testing will be announced at Wednesday’s weekly COVID-19 press conference.
