A consumer protection group released its annual list of the most dangerous toys kids play with in the summer.
World Against Toys Causing Harm says water Slip ‘N Slides come in at number five on the ranking because of the risk of head, neck, and spine injuries. The group says use of the toy can result in someone being paralyzed if they slide into something.
Number four on the list is swimming pools. The important thing to remember is to always pay attention to kids when they are in the pool, even if its a baby pool. Young kids can drown in less than two inches of water and it can happen in less than 30 seconds, the report says.
Big Wheels and similar low-rider tricycles are the third most dangerous summer toy according to W.A.T.C.H. because they are not easily visible to drivers on the roadway.
Number two is lawn darts. Though the kind with pointed tips have been illegal since 1988, some are still produced with weighted tips. The consumer protection group says these can cause head injuries.
Water balloon slingshots top the list as the most dangerous. W.A.T.C.H. says they can cause eye injuries, especially if children use them to shoot things other than balloons. They can have small pieces which are considered a choking hazard.
