WARSAW — More related charges are expected following the conviction of an Akron woman in a jury trial who was found guilty of involvement in a string of thefts.

Following a two-day jury trial in the Kosciusko County Superior I Court, Nikita Deseree Nelson, 25, of Akron, was found guilty of three felony theft charges earlier this week. The charges stem from separate incidents in February and March of 2023.

Nelson was accused of knowingly or intentionally exerting unauthorized control over a
firearm, compound bow and jewelry, from two local residences and one business, during the two months.

An intensive investigation by the City of Warsaw Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police resulted in Nelson’s apprehension.

Corresponding charges are likely forthcoming for additional related suspects in Kosciusko and Fulton Counties. Nelson’s sentencing is scheduled for late September.

Anyone with relevant information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Warsaw Police Department Detective Division at 574-385-2206.
