Three captured after fleeing traffic stop in North Webster

News Release

WARSAW — A traffic stop in Kosciusko County on Saturday resulted in three arrests after all three occupants fled on foot but were eventually tracked down.

The incident happened on Jan. 25, at about 12:39 a.m., when Trooper Matthew Drudge attempted to stop a red 2003 Chevrolet SUV for an equipment violation and a registration violation on SR 13, near East Fourth Street, in North Webster.

The driver of the Chevrolet allegedly attempted to elude police before entering Black Rocks Trailer Park. Once in the trailer park, the driver eventually slowed and a female passenger in the back seat exited and fled on foot.

While she fled, the driver brought the Chevrolet to a stop and he and a front-seat passenger also fled.

Drudge chased the female through several yards and subsequently tazed the woman who was taken into custody.  She was identified as Heaven Tendziegloski, 36 of Syracuse.

Tendziegloski was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor, and Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, as well as two active warrants for theft.

Troopers then began looking for the two males. Trooper John Wilson and his K9 partner, Daisy, were able to track one into a wooded area over two miles from the traffic stop.  This male, the alleged driver of the Chevrolet, was taken into custody and identified as Tye Sommers, 35 of Syracuse. He was arrested for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, Level 6 Felony, and resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor.

A K9 officer from Winona Lake Police Department arrived to assist with tracking the third person. After another extensive K9 track, officers found him hiding in a wooded area over a mile from the traffic stop.  He was taken into custody and identified as Travis Vanover, 49 of Syracuse. He was arrested for resisting law enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor, as well as for an active warrant for driving while suspended-prior and a warrant for a probation violation.

Tendziegloski, Sommers, and Vanover were all taken to the Kosciusko County Jail.
