Michigan State Police motor carrier officers are organizing a three-day enforcement operation involving authorities in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio that's focused on reducing crashes involving commercial vehicles. The effort takes place Tuesday through Thursday and includes all counties along Michigan's southern border with Indiana and Ohio. Officers will focus on violations by commercial vehicle drivers traveling on non-interstate routes. They'll target violations that are likely to contribute to a crash such as speed, following too closely and improper lane use. Inspections also are planned. Additional commercial vehicle initiatives are planned for later this summer.
