Halloween is only a few days away! So, what kind of candy can you expect to fill you or your kids’ trick-or-treat baskets?
CandyStore.com gathered 11 years of data to create a list of 2018’s Most Popular Halloween Candy in America by state.
In Indiana, the most commonly eaten candy is Hot Tamales with approximately 100,469 pounds purchased for the holiday. Starbursts came in second place with 73,692 pounds, and Jolly Ranchers are third with 30,653 pounds purchased.
Nationwide, the top 10 commonly purchased Halloween candies are:

- Reese’s Cups
- Starburst
- Candy Corn
- Hot Tamales
- Hershey’s
- Tootsie Pops
- Jolly Ranchers
This year, the National Retail Federation is estimating shoppers will spend $2.6 billion on Halloween candy, which is lower than last year’s $2.7 billion estimate.
The average person is expected to spend approximately $27 on Halloween treats.
