LAPORTE — A man in LaPorte wasn’t in the mood for any clowning around Tuesday night.
Two people dressed as clowns approached Matthew Cox in the 1200 block of Andrew Ave. in LaPorte, according to WSBT.
The two clowns started to approach the man “like zombies”, with one of them dragging his leg and holding a sledgehammer, Cox told WSBT.
The clowns then started shouting profanities at Cox, then charged at him. The problem with this plan? Cox is a trained cage fighter and a former fight instructor in the military.
Cox told WSBT he got down into a fighting stance and knocked one of the clowns to the ground with a punch. While on the ground, the clown pulled out a knife, but Cox knocked it away after grabbing the clown’s wrist.
Perhaps seeing the futility of trying to attack Cox, the other clown ran off.
Cox called 911 afterwards. LaPorte Police then went checking hospitals looking for the suspects, but no one fitting Cox’s description had checked in.
Police are still investigating.
