Two women from Michigan City are facing drug charges after being stopped on the Toll Road near Elkhart.
An Indiana State Trooper pulled over a car for a traffic stop shortly before 11 p.m. Monday about two miles east of the Elkhart exit.
The Trooper smelled a marijuana odor when talking to the driver, 33-year-old Raquel Robles. Both Robles and a passenger, 31-year-old Angelica Ortiz, exited the car so a search could be conducted.
Several baggies of marijuana were found, along with drug paraphernalia. At the Elkhart County Jail a container of methamphetamine and additional drug paraphernalia were found hidden on Ortiz. Ortiz also had a warrant out of Lake County for identity theft.
Indiana State Police say Robles was also found to have methamphetamine hidden on her, and was reportedly uncooperative and resisted the jailers and the arresting trooper at the jail.
Robles faces preliminary charges of: Possession of Methamphetamine-Level 3 Felony, Possession of Paraphernalia-Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana-Class A Misdemeanor, Driving While Suspended Prior-Class A Misdemeanor.
Ortiz faces preliminary charges of: Dealing Methamphetamine-Level 3 Felony, Possession of Methamphetamine-Level 3 Felony, Possession of Paraphernalia-Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana-Class A Misdemeanor, Warrant for Identity Theft.
