Severe thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning caused damage in some areas after damaging winds swept through.
Power was out for over 30,000 I&M customers, while over 4,000 customers with NIPSCO lost power throughout northern Indiana. Trees and power lines were knocked down in northern Marshall County and throughout areas of Elkhart and LaGrange County. One injury was reported in Starke County near San Pierre after a downburst heavily damaged a property with winds up to 70 MPH.
A second round of storms passed through the area between 2 and 3 AM Monday, downing trees in southern Elkhart County around New Paris.
As far as rainfall amounts go, areas of northwest Kosciusko County saw over two inches of rain while most areas generally saw upwards of half an inch to an inch of rain.
