Unemployment numbers continue to improve locally as the year moved through July.
The latest data from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development showed Kosciusko County’s unemployment rate at 6.7 percent, which is down from the nine percent in June, but still higher than the previous year when it was 3.2 percent. July’s unemployment rate locally was lower than the state average of 7.9 percent. The state rate was down from 11.1 percent in June.
Neighboring counties all around saw drops in their unemployment rates. Indiana’s labor force, combining those who are employed and unemployed, but are actively seeking work, is at 3.35 million, up about 120,000 from June.
