A competitive event is coming to Warsaw, bringing with it thousands of people and millions of dollars.
The Lake City Skiers and the City of Warsaw will be hosting the 2019 Division 1 Show Ski National Championships.
Lake City Skiers Vice President Chuck McLaughlin tells News Now Warsaw there will be a huge impact for the city.
“It’s going to be a pretty big thing for Warsaw because it will bring about eight to nine thousand people into the city for the duration of the week,” he explains. “It will be about a $4 million impact to the community.”
McLaughlin says USA Water Ski and the U.S. Olympic Committee oversee the tournament.
Warsaw beat out Rockford, Illinois, Janesville, Wisconsin, and Waterville, Iowa to be chosen as the site for the 2019 Nationals.
Warsaw’s own Lake City Skiers will be competing in the tournament in addition to hosting it.
