Warsaw City Council Tuesday heared a presentation on expanding the wastewater treatment plant on CR 150W.
Gary Ruston, Wessler Engineering, presented a study that was completed by the company. The city had requested they evaluate the capacity of its wastewater treatment plant in anticipation for industries, commercial and residential growth in the near and extended future.
The existing plant was constructed and put into operation in 2004.
The capacity study found the plant will need an overall expansion in order to increase rated treatment capacity.
Ruston said major improvements would be new grit removal facilities, retrofitting existing clarifier sludge collectors and a new chemical feed building for phosphorous control.
The estimated total project budget is $6.42 million. If approved, design could start this month and construction would begin in January 2017 and end in May 2018.
