A Warsaw man was arrested Saturday after allegedly beating and threatening a woman with a handgun. A county deputy responded Friday to a report of battery on Hartzler St. in Warsaw and spoke with the victim. The victim had bruising and swelling on the right side of her face and red marks on her left arm and hand. The victim told police she had arrived at the residence and entered the garage and saw 38 year old Bryan Dawson come to the door with a handgun. The woman said she and Dawson got into an argument and Dawson spit on her face and attempted to take a ring off her finger. He then allegedly pushed her to the floor and slapped her in the face. He also allegedly threatened to shoot one of the woman’s friends. According to the affidavit, Dawson then dragged the woman into the residence and down the hallway toward a bedroom, eventually letting her go, and the woman ran from the residence. Dawson caught the woman again and began pulling her back into the residence with his hand covering her mouth. The woman said he also jammed something hard, she believes the gun, into her side. The woman told police Dawson finally let her go and said she was “going to regret this.” Police later spoke with Dawson, who said he did not have any firearms in the residence, but after getting permission to search the residence, officers found an unloaded .22 caliber handgun with one bullet in the magazine located in a toolbox in the garage. Dawson was arrested Saturday and charged with felony criminal confinement and misdemeanor domestic battery and held on a $2,000 bond.
