A Warsaw man is in custody after allegedly causing serious injuries to his wife with an axe.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department says they arrested 37-year-old Joseph Waithira on a preliminary charge of battery causing serious bodily injury yesterday evening.
They were called to a home on West Old Road 30 where they say they found Waithira attacking his wife with an axe after an altercation turned violent.
Authorities say she had visible extensive head injuries consistent with a weighted edged weapon. She was airlifted to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital for treatment.
