Warsaw man dies following Sunday kayak incident

A Warsaw man involved in a Kayak accident Sunday has died.

31-year-old Richard Wilson died Tuesday at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. The Times Union reports the Allen County Coroner’s Office says the cause of death was probably “accidental drowning.”

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says Wilson attempted to cross over the Collamer low head dam just before noon, fell out of his kayak and was unable to escape the circulating current.

He was airlifted, along with a Syracuse man who was also sucked into the current trying to rescue Wilson. The Syracuse man was listed in critical condition Wednesday.
