A Warsaw man was arrested over the weekend for battering and strangling his girlfriend in September.
29-year-old Humberto Joaquin Lara Jr of Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:04 a.m. Sunday on three charges of failure to appear, strangulation, battery causing bodily injury, probation violation; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
His bond was set at $12,149.
The probable cause affidavit states that on Sept. 23, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officer responded to a battery complaint.
When the officer spoke with the alleged victim, she said that while she was having a video conversation with her sister, Lara became angry, threw her laptop computer and pushed her onto the couch.
The victim told Lara several times to leave her residence but he refused and placed his hands around her neck, causing a bruise behind her left ear.
The officer met with the woman’s sister who said they were having video conversation when she observed Lara become angry at her sister and throw her computer, push her onto the couch, hit her on the face and put his hands around her neck.
A child was present in the house when Lara hit and choked the victim, according to police.
