Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer is running for a third term in office. The Republican incumbent tells News Now Warsaw he wants to continue to work for the community.
“This community, this city, is not about me. This city is about our industry that has decided to set up shop here, it’s about opportunity that we can help create, it’s about education, it’s about safety, it’s about a vibrant downtown, it’s about a wonderful parks system.”
He says his run for re-election is also about moving projects forward.
“I think it’s just really a continuation of what we’ve done for the community.”
Mayor Thallemer will file in early January then begin campaigning.
“I will work harder than ever to continue to earn the confidence and support that I have received for the past seven years. In my next term, I will work even more diligently to serve the community that I love. I’ve invested my heart and soul into serving Warsaw and am committed to continuing that good work,” Thallemer said.
The primary election takes place May 7, 2019. Mayor Thallemer is the first to formally announce he is running for office, though Republican City Councilman Ron Shoemaker did start an exploratory committee in July as part of a possible run for Mayor.
