The Warsaw Police Department is warning about a recent phone scam.
Detective Sergeant Brad Kellar made the announcement on Facebook Live yesterday afternoon. The phone call that Kellar received states that an organization has filed a lawsuit against a person’s name and says the local county sheriff will come make an arrest, a bank account will be frozen, and a social security number is suspended.
Kellar stated that unfortunately, the department takes up numerous investigations into phone scams where the caller is demanding money. He states that organizations such as the IRS or other debt collectors will never call to get money and those organizations will send you a letter in the mail regarding anything with money.
