A woman from Warsaw and man from Syracuse are in custody on drug charges.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded with Child Protective Services to a Warsaw home yesterday morning to investigate drug allegations. That’s when they found 29-year-old Traci Craig and 36-year-old Darren Heinzman.
They also confiscated approximately five grams of meth and five grams of heroin, along with nearly $475 in cash.
Craig was wanted on a failure to appear warrant and allegedly had drug paraphernalia on her person.
Heinzman was passed out in a car at the house, and has been charged with dealing heroin, dealing methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and neglect of a dependent.
Deputies got medical clearance for Heinzman before booking him into the Kosciusko County Jail because he was reportedly so intoxicated they though he was overdosing from narcotics.
A child that was supposed to be in Heinzman’s care was found at a location on Pixie Parkway in Syracuse. Officials say the child had been left unattended for an extended period of time.
Additional people could face charges in connection to the neglect of the child.
