INDIANAPOLIS — The Wawasee High School girls’ swim team made waves at
the IHSAA Girls State Swim Finals on Saturday, with a dominant performance in multiple
events.
Led by Julie Mishler, the Warriors delivered an unforgettable showing, placing 9th overall as a team and bringing home a state record and two individual state championships.
Mishler cemented her place in history by becoming Wawasee’s newest two-time state champion, winning both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Her electrifying swim in the 100 freestyle set a new IHSAA state meet record with a blistering time of 47.86 seconds.
Several Wawasee swimmers contributed to the team’s remarkable success across seven events, including Addie Beasley, Reese Beasley, and Joscelyn Gibbs.

In addition to her outstanding performances in the pool, Addie Beasley was honored with the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award, one of the highest accolades a student-athlete can receive. This award recognizes outstanding sportsmanship, leadership, and character—values that the Wawasee Athletic Department prioritizes in the development of its student-athletes.
“The success of these young women is a testament to their dedication, resilience, and the strong culture we are building within Wawasee athletics,” said the Wawasee Athletic Director. “Julie’s record-setting performance and Addie’s recognition for character and leadership reflect what it means to be a Warrior.”
