Wawasee High School is comprised of students and staff members from the towns of Syracuse, North Webster and Milford. All three towns have local food drive pantries that serve the residents in their townships.
These food pantries rely heavily on community donations in order to ensure that they have enough supplies to serve those who require assistance. Currently, Wawasee Community School Corp. has a 50 percent free and reduced student population. This means that half of our students’ household income is at or below the state level of poverty.
This year WHS Key Club will be holding its annual non-perishable food drive, Stuff The Bus, during the week of Nov. 16 – 21. Our goal is to stuff the bus full of food that will be donated to the Syracuse, North Webster and Milford food pantries. The bus will be at the high school every morning during the week for student and staff donations. Key Club members will also be at the following locations during the week:
• Dollar General store in Milford Nov. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m.
• Lances New Market in North Webster Nov. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m.
• Lances New Market in Syracuse Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Donations will be delivered to the food pantries after school Nov. 23.
