WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) marked the beginning of the 2024-25 school year with an opening day celebration centered around the new theme for the year, #WarsawINSPIRES. Held at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center, the event brought together over 800 staff members to kick off the new academic year.
The day started with a breakfast served by WCS administrators and board members, along with a health fair featuring many of WCS’s community partners, including Everwise, Bowen Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Legacy and Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital. Staff also received their new Tiger Tuesday shirts, which can be worn on Tuesdays to celebrate the theme for the year.
While staff gathered in the Performing Arts Center for the opening program, the WCHS band and cheerleaders provided music and entertainment. Several WCHS theatre students also performed a skit and song centered around the theme #WarsawINSPIRES.
Following the student presentations, Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert welcomed the staff and introduced the new theme for the year. Keynote speaker and WCS board member, Matt Deuel spoke about the power of educators. There were lots of laughs and also some tears in the crowd as Matt spoke about inspirational moments in his life and those of his children.
At the conclusion of the program, the entire WCS staff gathered for a group photo, thanks to Blosser’s Photo + Studio.
Warsaw Community Schools looks forward to an exciting and successful school year as students join staff in the buildings on Friday.
