News Release
WARSAW — Join the Warsaw Community Schools’ Orchestra Departments for a holiday concert, “Carols With a Twist” on Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center.
Doors open at the PAC at 6:30 p.m., with the performance beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Students from 6th grade, Lakeview and Edgewood middle schools, and Warsaw Community High School will be performing in four Orchestra Ensembles: Beginning Orchestra, Advanced Middle School Orchestra, Obbligato String Orchestra, and Philharmonic Orchestra.
While audience members will hear a few traditional carols, the overall theme of the concert is “Carols with a Twist.” Students will be playing jazz-inspired versions of “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas” and “Jingle Bells,” a Latin American Carol called “Los Peces en el Rio,” and two Hanukkah songs called “Dreidel” and “These Candles” (Hanerot Halalu).
Additionally, there will be two songs in the style of rock: “Rest Ye Merry, Rock Ye Very” and “Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo” from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Those interested in a heart-warming classic will enjoy “Christmas Time is Here” from the Charlie Brown special.
