Recently, Warsaw Community Schools asked for staff and community input through a survey request for priorities for WCS to kick off the strategic planning process.
On September 21-22, 2016, a broad-based strategic planning group (pictured) met to start digesting the information received from the hundreds of survey responses. This strategic planning group included teachers, staff, administration, students, parents, community and industry leaders.
Among the strong themes in the early stages of planning and from the surveys, indicators show that student wellness will be among the top priorities. Student wellness will encompass such things as physical and mental health (including suicide prevention), students being valued, embracing diversity, and developing community and global leadership skills.
Continued academic advancement was another major theme of conversation and planning. The focus was on the preparedness of students for colleges and career tracks. This relevance of learning is a critical component for encouragements of student career and life dreams.
Dr. Hoffert will continue participating in numerous community events sharing the recent progress and will continue to request further feedback on priorities for WCS. An abbreviated version of the presentation is also available at www.warsaw.k12.in.us.
This is just the beginning of the process and continued participation and input of staff, students, parents and the community will be critical along the way.
