Warsaw Community High School will celebrate the annual homecoming game this Friday, Oct. 4. This year’s event will include old favorites such as the WCS Homecoming Parade, while adding in new, exciting festivities.
Warsaw Community High School Student Council is proud to host its annual homecoming parade at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. The parade will consist of the WCHS official homecoming court and floats featuring a diverse range of clubs and sports. The 2019 homecoming float theme is books. Following tradition, the participants of the parade will be throwing candy to spectators. Spectators are encouraged to dress as their favorite book character.
The parade is in conjunction with the “Artober” First Friday event. Please plan accordingly for additional road closures downtown. Parade spectators are asked to park in peripheral lots, such as Center Lake Park, in order to view the parade.
The parade will start at the Warsaw Community High School horseshoe parking lot, where it will then proceed to Union Street. It will then turn right onto Market Street and later turn left onto Indiana Street. The route will then turn left onto Main Street and continue left onto Columbia Street. The parade will end at the corner of Columbia and Market Streets.
This year’s homecoming game against Wawasee High School will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the WCHS Athletic Complex. The first 300 visitors to the game will be given orange and black pom poms to help cheer on the Tiger football team. A pre-game band performance will be held with a halftime show to follow later in the night to recognize the 2019-2020 WCHS homecoming court. The event will conclude with multiple firework displays at the conclusion of the game.
