The Whitley County Superior Court judge will soon be working on some cases that are quite different than ones he works on now. Judge Douglas Fahl is a major in the Indiana Army National Guard Advocate General Corps. He announced Wednesday he is being deployed to Guantanamo Bay Naval Station. According to 21Alive, he will serve on the litigation support team that is responsible for prosecuting detainees and responding to release requests. As the judge of Whitley Superior Court, he mostly hears civil cases and non-violent crimes. In 1990, Fahl became a member of the U.S. Army Reserve and Indiana Army National Guard. The Indiana Supreme Court will appoint a judge pro-tem until Fahl returns.
