Winona Lake Town Council reviewed a resolution Tuesday that would allow there to be staggered terms for council members.
This will go on the 2015 ballot effective Jan. 1, 2016, if approved by the council this year.
If approved, the three-year terms for council members elected for Districts 3 and 5 will become 4-year terms.
The four-year terms for the council members for District 1, District 2 and District 4 will remain four-year terms, beginning at noon on Jan. 1, following the municipal election in which the person elected for those positions in the 2019 elections, shall thereafter be elected for four year terms at each general election thereafter.
In other business, Cindy Nolton, deputy clerk treasurer, was presented with a plaque for achieving State certification as an Indiana Accredited Municipal Clerk from the Indiana League of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers. She has successfully completed all of the training and required courses.
The council also adopted its 2015 budget. The 2015 budget is $5,092,875. This is a $227,697 decrease from the $5,320,572 budget or 4.3 percent decrease.
