Conservation Officers were called Saturday morning to a woman who was shot while hunting. It happened at the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife area. 25 year old Allie Carter of Avilla, Indiana was reportedly getting up to re-position herself when she set her gun down on the ground. Her dog, named Trigger then allegedly stepped on the gun, causing it to fire. Carter was shot by the 12 gauge shotgun in the left foot and suffered injuries to her toes. According to reports, the firearm's safety wasn't on, and Indiana DNR officials say Carter had never completed a hunter education course. She was transported to KCH in Warsaw.
